Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A. announced that Aaron J. Gorovitz, a long-time real estate partner with the firm, has been appointed to the board of directors of Meritas, a global alliance of 7,124 experienced lawyers in 175 full-service law firms serving 236 markets—all rigorously qualified, independent and collaborative.

Gorovitz has been involved with Meritas for several years. He is one of seven elected board members who will serve for a three-year term. Most recently, he served as the co-chair of the Meritas U.S. Real Estate Group and the chair of the North America Real Estate Meeting, which was held in Chicago this past October and which received national recognition.

For more than 25 years, Gorovitz’s legal practice has centered on large and complex commercial, residential and mixed use real estate projects throughout Central Florida. He is often involved in site selection and due diligence and is lead counsel in the procurement of Developments of Regional Impact (DRIs), comprehensive plan designations, zonings and other governmental approvals and entitlements. He also formulates public/private partnerships on master plans, and takes a lead role in the development, financing and leasing of projects.

A community leader, he also serves as the Chair of the Central Florida Partnership (CFP), which is influencing growth in the Central Florida community. Gorovitz is also involved with many other organizations, including the Orange County School Board Business Advisory Group, the Community Foundation of Central Florida, the Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando and the Jewish National Fund. In addition, he serves as the co-chair of Meritas’ Real Estate Group and is a member of the Meritas Member Relations and Marketing Board Committee. Recently, Gorovitz was honored with the “Most Influential Businessmen” in Central Florida award by the Orlando Business Journal and the “Father of the Year” award presented by the American Diabetes Association.

The firm also announced that Gorovitz has been featured as one of the Orange County leaders in Central Florida by Florida Trend magazine, May 2013 issue. Gorovitz has spent countless hours working side-by-side with community leaders and was instrumental in bringing SunRail to Central Florida. This March, he traveled with other regional leaders to Washington, D.C. to help advance the regional needs including: hospitality, travel and tourism, research funding and entrepreneurship.
