Israeli dance workshop coming up in March

 


After a five-year hiatus, the Israeli dance group at the Roth JCC is reviving its annual dance workshop with Israeli dance instructor Dany Benshalom on Saturday evening, March 29 and Sunday, March 30.

Dany Benshalom, workshop master teacher, is widely known and respected among the dance community in Israel and the Western hemisphere. He has taught Israeli folk-dance for dance teachers at the Wingate Institute’s Zinnman College for P.E since 1988. Together with his wife Nogah, he runs one of Israel’s most popular dance programs in Kibbutz Giv’at Chayim. Benshalom is deeply involved in the preservation and teaching of the “Oldies.” He has served as the director of the Karmiel 10 day Seminar for foreign teachers in Karmiel, Israel, July 2002 to present. He is the co-director of Karmiel USA, a weekend workshop, 1996 to present. Dany has won the love and respect of dancers all over the world for his warm and friendly personality, his excellent teaching ability, and his infinite patience.

The workshop will take place at the JCC, 851 N. Maitland Blvd., in Maitland. Instruction and dance party will be held Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. On Sunday, the first dance session will run from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. with bagels at 8:30 a.m. Second session is from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m .; and the third session is from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and includes review, followed by a potluck dinner.

The cost will be $60 for the entire workshop; $25 Saturday evening only; $45 Sunday only. After March 24 or at the door, please add $10.
