Brown's New York Deli in Maitland is celebrating its one-year anniversary for the entire week of June 30 through July 6. Kosher reubens (the most popular item on the menu) will be half price all week. There will be free mini potato knishes for all who walk through the door and daily drawings for free meals.

According to owner, Lauren Brown, "The first year of a restaurant is the most challenging. We have been very pleased with the reviews and responses to our product and service." On July 1, 2013, Brown's Deli brought authentic New York delicatessen fare and full service Kosher dining back to Central Florida when they opened their 60-seat restaurant with additional seating outside. In an atmosphere reminiscent of historic delicatessens of New York City (and a smaller scale reflection of Ronnie's Restaurant), diners are welcomed with freshly prepared coleslaw and crunchy green half sour pickles on every table.

The restaurant features house specialties of old-world brisket and traditional stuffed cabbage along with many other homemade delicacies... and of course, the mile-high overstuffed deli sandwich. After months of crafting, they are now producing their own house-cured corned beef, pastrami and tongue. Matthew Kopkin, son of the owner, explains "The curing and brining process takes weeks, but it gives us control over our unique flavor profile and the sometimes unreliable Kosher meat supply line."

The community can expect to see repeat special events in the second year of operation such as private sittings in the restaurants large sukkah during the festival of Sukkot and the availability of bookings for private seders during Pesach. Coming soon to the entrance around the corner will be sales of Glatt Kosher prepackaged meats and other prepared Kosher foods at competitive pricing.
