Peri Smilow

Temple Shir Shalom of Oviedo invites the community to participate in their second in a series of guest musicians joining in Friday Night Shabbat services. Spiritual Leader Beth Schafer and the TSS Board of Trustees are pleased to welcome visiting artist Peri Smilow for another evening of meaningful music, Shabbat-in-Song, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19.

A gifted vocalist and guitar player, Smilow is also an extraordinary storyteller, teacher and entertainer. Connecting with people of all ages, she creates moments of transformation. As a performer, composer, educator, and activist she has the unique ability to deeply move people of all ages, to forge connections and understanding and to use her extraordinary musical gifts, passion and commitment to community to create social change. Schafer, herself a renowned Jewish musician, played a key role in arranging Smilow's visit to Central Florida. "I am thrilled to have my friend and colleague Peri Smilow help usher in our holy season. Peri is a gifted weaver of story and song. Her presence is not only a blessing, but a truly satisfying experience. And, that voice! I am very excited to have her with us."

Earlier this year, in the first event in the series, Temple Shir Shalom hosted Michael Ochs and Alaa Ali for their Pursuit of Harmony experience. Almost 200 participants enjoyed a thought-provoking night of music and stories.

Join Temple Shir Shalom for another moving experience which will no doubt create a special atmosphere leading in to Rosh Hashanah.

The evening will include a Shabbat service and Oneg, and the TSS Choir will perform as part of the program. The event is open to the public and will be held at University Carillon United Methodist Church, Oviedo (1395 Campus View Ct, Oviedo, FL 32765). Temple Shir Shalom of Oviedo (www.templeshirshalom.org) is a Reform family-oriented congregation that welcomes all families, singles, seniors and interfaith couples searching for their spiritual home.
