Local author tells the human story of a historic expedition

Glenn "Marty" Stein is an Apopka resident, and a Polar and Maritime historian. He has spent the last nine years researching and writing "Discovering the North-West Passage: The Four-Year Arctic Odyssey of H.M.S. Investigator and the McClure Expedition," which will be launched Oct. 29 at the Library of Congress.

This is the human story of this historic expedition, and includes a wealth of unpublished information within a thoroughly readable text, surrounded by 60 illustrations, five maps, and seven appendices.

In the words of well-known Arctic historian Russell Potter, "McClure and his men are fully brought to life in a way no previous account of nineteenth-century exploration has managed."

The book will be available by early October at http://www.mcfarlandbooks.com or Amazon.
