First genealogy workshop attendees build family trees

The first in the series of 10 monthly JGSGO (Jewish Genealogical Society) workshops held at The Roth Family JCC on, Sept. 6, was an overwhelming success with over 50 in attendance in person and online.

Speaker Marlis Humphrey, president of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies, spoke on "Begin Building Your Family Tree." With the help of local JGSGO "mavens," attendees were assisted in starting their family tree on Ancestry.com.

The next in the series of workshops will be "Connect to the Experts and Key Resources" with Marlis Humphrey. It will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at The Roth Family Jewish Community Center, 851 N. Maitland Ave. in Maitland.

The workshop is free and open to the public. Please bring your own laptop to participate in the lab portion. It is also possible to attend via the Internet.

Pre-registration is required to participate either in-person or online at http://www.jgsgo.org/MyJewishRoots.
