Chanukah menorahs at Home Depot

Students hard at work on their Menorahs during a Home Depot Workshop.

Chabad of South Orlando's Hebrew School is all about hands on learning. That is why on Sunday, Dec. 11, director Chani Konikov brought her students to the Millenia Home Depot. What does Home Depot have to do with Chanukah, many of the students wondered? They soon found out. Waiting for each student as well as other members of the community who came out for the event, was a set of materials with which to build a Menorah! Children of all ages were able to sand, build, and then paint their very own Menorah. Once finished, they were directed to another table where Chanukah themed cookies awaited edible decoration.

One student who joined the Hebrew School this year, Cole Higginbotham, age 10, said, "I expected Hebrew school to be whatever, and now here I am-it's awesome."

The hands-on experience filled everyone present with true Jewish pride, and taught them that Judaism is not just for the synagogue; it can even be found between the aisles of Home Depot. To find out about more exciting and educational upcoming events visit http://www.Jewishorlando.com.
