Obituary - HENRY IRVIN KLEIN

 


Henry Klein, age 79, of Kissimmee, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at The Commons at Orlando Lutheran Towers. A native of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Henry was born on Jan. 14, 1937, to the late Morris and Florence Abraham Klein. He served in the United States Army following the Korean War as a photographer, often contributing to the military magazine, Stars and Stripes.

On Jan. 2, 1960, at Temple Beth Shalom in Virginia, he married his wife, Brenda, whom he met at a synagogue event the previous year while on leave. His work schedule required Henry to travel extensively, however that changed when the family relocated to the Orlando area in 1972. Henry owned and operated several service stations for the next 10 years before moving on to work for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center. A family man, relished his time doing things with Brenda, his children and later, his grandchildren.


In addition to Brenda, Henry is survived by his son, Todd (Debra) of Clermont; his daughters, Mindy (Marc) Doolittle of Orlando and Nancy Klein of Kissimmee; and his three grandchildren Elizabeth, Matthew and Shelby. His is also survived by his brother, Saul (Maureen) Klein of Titusville. His sister, Barbara “Harlene” Wolf predeceased him.

A funeral service, with military honors, was held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, with Rabbi Moe Kaprow officiating.

Warm, intelligent, thoughtful, kind. All these words describe Hank well. He was my friend and my mentor in so many things. His presence on this Earth definitely enriched it. He will be sorely missed.
