Jake Alhadeff of Maitland, Fla., died on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. He was 98 years old.
Born to Solomon and Estrea Benator Alhadeff in Atlanta in 1915, he was the oldest of six children. He lived in Atlanta and was an active member of Congregation Or VeShalom until he moved to Florida in 2003. He served in WWII and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Lt. Col. Growing up, Mr. Alhadeff loved playing doubles tennis with his three brothers. He later played duplicate bridge and became a Life Master.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Esral; his son, Norman Lewis; his sister, Alice Barbakoff; and his brother, Morris. Mr. Alhadeff is survived by his daughters, Marilyn Bernstein and her husband Marvin, and Rochelle Richman and her husband Laurence; his brothers, Abraham and his wife Ruth, and Charlie; and his sister, Julia Roth; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was held April 18 at Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta with Rabbi Hayyim Kassorla officiating.
