Obituary - ARTHUR V. SCHOTT

 


Arthur V. Schott of Maitland died on Saturday, July 20. He was 90 years old.

Born on Feb. 24, 1923, in Frankfurt, Germany, to the late Frederick and Hedwig Wohlfart Schott, he attended grade school there. In 1938, at the age of 15, he left Germany and went to London, living there for six months. From England he moved to the Philippines where he lived for the next 18 months before being able to enter the United States through Portland, Ore., and settling in Cincinnati. On Nov. 3, 1957, he married in New York the former Harriet Rubin, his wife of nearly 56 years, who survives him. Mr. Schott worked in retail for more than 43 years at Sears Roebuck, making his way from salesman to manager. In 2001, they moved from Cincinnati to the Orlando area to be closer to their family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Fred (Deanna) of Longwood; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His brother, Gerald Schottenfeld, predeceased him.


Graveside services were held at Congregation of Reform Judaism Cemetery with Rabbi Steven W. Engel officiating.
