Obituary - SOLOMON WILLIAM LOBER

 


Solomon W. Lober passed away on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs. He was 90 years old. Mr. Lober was born in Brooklyn, N. Y., on Oct. 19, 1922, to the late Max and Esther Braver Lober. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Central Europe. Following the war, he graduated from City College of New York with a business degree and then received a degree in mechanical engineering from New York University, ultimately earning his juris doctor from St. John’s University. During his working career, Mr. Lober did contract administration for the Department of Defense.

On Oct. 25, 1947, in Brooklyn, he married the former Irene Moss, his wife of nearly 66 years, who survives him. In 1998, they relocated to the Orlando area from Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and became members of Temple Israel.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lober is survived by his sons, Dr. Clifford (Randee) Lober of Longwood and Richard (Lynn) Lober of Boca Raton; his daughter, Lori Ann Lober (Robert Schmidt) of West Hollywood, Calif .; his sister, Mildred Berns of Indiana; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by his brother Melvin Lober.


Graveside services, with military honors, were held at All Faiths Memorial Park with Rabbi Joshua Neely of Temple Israel officiating. The family requests contributions in memory of Solomon Lober to the National Yiddish Book Center, 1021 West Street, Amherst Mass. 01002 or Temple Israel, 50 S. Moss Road, Winter Springs 32708.
