Obituary - DANIEL STEIN

Daniel Stein passed away Jan. 23, 2014. He was 92 years of age. From the time he was 13, Daniel Stein almost always worked six days a week, a pace he kept up for 44 more years.

In 1998, when he retired at 57, Stein decided to enjoy himself spending time with his beloved wife, Betty, and their family and traveling all over the world. At the time of his death, Stein had visited nearly 30 foreign countries.

Born in Boston on Dec. 24, 1921, to the late Abraham and Anna Rotberg Stein, Stein was a World War II veteran and a member of the JWV. He and Betty married shortly after his Army service and were married for nearly 67 years. He was also a Lifetime Hadassah associate.

The family moved to Miami in 1947 where they both worked in a family toy factory. Stein eventually moved into real estate where he remained until retirement. He ran the sales department for several new-home builders including the old Bel-Aire homes in Central Florida.

He and Betty remained in their home for almost 45 years until relocating to an assisted-living facility last year.

Following Stein’s retirement, they traveled extensively for nearly 20 years. Much of their travel was following their daughter Carol, as she performed around the globe. Another of his favorite past-times was deep-sea fishing with his son, Dr. Stephen Stein, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Dan Stein is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Carol Stein (Lee Wolfson); and son, Dr. Stephen (Debbie) Stein; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services with military honors were held at the “Yank” Frank Pavilion at Temple Israel Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, Orlando.
