The Jewish Pavilion welcomes gerontologist Davida Barr as the new director of Community Outreach, as well as new to Orlando. Living most of her life in Israel, Barr was a successful community organizer who helped create many new programs and facilities for vulnerable populations, including a children's library, a women's health and wellness center, and a school that provided ultra Orthodox girls with an opportunity to study secular studies. Her specialty was work with the elderly, and was a force in developing aging-in-place programs for the Joint Distribution Committee's ESHEL.

Barr is a popular speaker worldwide on various topics, especially issues concerning older adults such as aging-in place-programs, communicating with seniors, healthy brains and lifelong intimacy.

Relocating to the U.S. a few years ago, Barr continued her work with the senior population creating and overseeing a network program of seven different nonprofit agencies that provided wrap-around services for hundreds of isolated low-income seniors in New Jersey, allowing them the ability to remain in their own homes. This past fall she moved to Orlando and joined the Jewish Pavilion family. As director of Community Outreach, Barr will be highlighting and promoting the outstanding work provided by the Pavilion, and looks forward to leading programs herself in Southwest Orlando.
