Camp J 2014 is about culture, nature, community and diversity

Shown here (l-r): Abigail Granet, Hope Liegeois, and Isaac Cabiac participate in the excitement of Camp J's annual Yom Yisrael (Israel Day).

See, hear, smell, taste, and feel Camp J. In just a couple of months the Roth Jewish Community Center in Maitland will be transformed for a summer experience like none other in Orlando. Beginning in June the hallways, fields, pool, gym, and auditorium of the JCC will be filled with happy campers experiencing everything Camp J has to offer this summer including field trips, special events, theme days, and our greatest asset, our staff. A concerted effort to reach out to Hillel at UCF along with Jewish fraternities and sororities at UCF has helped create a great partnership that our campers will really benefit from. Camp J has created a staff team full of wonderful role models that are extremely enthusiastic and excited about this upcoming summer and the Jewish day camp experience. These top-notch and well-trained (nearly 40 hours) camp counselors will be leading a summer camp experience that will allow anyone at the J to see the constant smiles on our campers' faces, hear the beautiful sounds of happy campers singing traditional camp songs, and of course smell the strong and familiar summer scent of sunscreen.

In addition, this summer the JCC, with support from the Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando, will be bringing a taste of Israel back to Camp J. A summer shlicha (emissary) will be on staff as an activity specialist leading fun activities about Israeli culture and Teva (nature). This shlicha is also available to the community while she is here during the summer as a resource to other Jewish agencies. Finally, Camp J 2014 will be capitalizing on last summer's theme of kehillah (community) by focusing on givun, the Hebrew word for diversity. The Camp J staff will be trained and prepared with activities and resources to help them celebrate each camper's differences and unique strengths.

Camp J is a premiere Jewish summer day camp, validated by the national recognition awarded last fall for Excellence in Programming from the JCC Association of North America. If your child has not seen, heard, smelled, tasted, or felt Camp J in the past, please contact the camp office to find out about our New Camper Discount. Camp J is the place to be.
