Temple Israel Sisterhood hosts a 'Pink' Shabbat

In support of breast cancer awareness month, Temple Israel Sisterhood is hosting a Sharsheret Pink Shabbat on Friday, Oct. 17. The service will be held at the synagogue and will begin at 7:30.

Sharsheret is a national not-for-profit organization that is the Jewish community’s response to breast cancer and the only national organization addressing the unique concerns of Jewish women and families facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. One in 40 men and women of Ashkenazi (Central or Eastern European) Jewish descent carries a BRCA gene mutation that can lead to breast and/or ovarian cancer. Sharsheret educates the Jewish community about that risk and provides a continuum of care of culturally relevant support for those at risk. Sharsheret was named a recipient of the New York State Innovation in Breast Cancer Early Detection and Research Award and selected as a member of Livestrong Young Adult Alliance.

Please join the members of Temple Israel Sisterhood for a special service followed by pink challah and desserts. Educational materials provided by Sharsheret will be available. Temple Israel is located at 50 S. Moss Road in Winter Springs 32708. For more information, please call 407-647-3055.
