Obituary - JEROME LEWIN

 


Jerome Lewin, age 93, of Parkland, Fla., passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Home Care Villa in Coral Springs, Fla. He was born in Brooklyn N.Y., on Oct. 28, 1921, to the late Harry and Ida Cutler Levy. He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II.

On Dec. 6, 1942, in Brooklyn, he married the former Helen Blaweiss, his wife of over 72 years who survives him. He received his bachelor’s degree in engineering and was instrumental in developing the color matching process for the painting industry.

In his spare time, among other things, he enjoyed learning how to tune his piano. This hobby turned into a profitable byline for him and he was proud to have been brought into the Piano Technicians Guild.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lewin is survived by his daughters, Michele Anderson and Marilyn Stone. He is also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Sam Levy, and sister, Gertrude Hollander.

A funeral service, with military honors by the U.S. Navy, was held at the Pavilion at Ohev Shalom Cemetery with Rabbi Arnold Siegel officiating. Burial followed at the cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 640 Lee Road, Orlando 32810.
