Remember, Never Again

The Iran nuclear deal

The State Department said Iran’s support for terrorism was “undiminished” in 2014. The U.S. remains very concerned about the activities of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and its terrorist proxies in the Middle East.

New York Democrat Eliot Engel said “How can we trust Iran when over the decades, I’ve heard ‘Death to America!’ shouted routinely at Muslim Friday prayers, and at commemorations of the U.S. Embassy takeover and many other demonstrations. The regime refuses to shelve the slogan.”

A letter signed by 200 former military leaders who understand war, including Lt. Gen. (ret.) William G. “Jerry” Boykin, who served as undersecretary of defense, contradicts President Obama’s claim that the nuclear deal will curb Iran’s ability to produce nuclear warheads. “To the contrary, it actually provides Iran with a legitimate path to doing that simply by abiding by the deal.”

Egyptian political commentator Nervaa Mahmoud considers the Iranian nuclear deal “A potential kiss of death for liberalism in the Middle East.” She believes the USA deal will not promote liberalism but will vindicate Iran’s current theocratic leadership.

Iran’s official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told a news conference that the deal is only a political understanding. He urged parliament not to vote on it so that it does not become a legal obligation. With peace talks in progress, Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, was calling for “Death to America.”

With Iran’s history of violating agreements, I cannot understand why the U.S. administration is pushing in favor. Imagine one nuclear missile’s devastation. If you can explain how such an argument will protect the U.S. and the Middle East I want to know it.
