Former Broadway star and current channel 7 reporter to celebrate Shabbat with Southwest Orlando community

WSVN News Anchor Rosh Lowe, named TV Reporter of the Year by The Miami New Times, will celebrate Shabbat with Chabad of South Orlando in honor of their 17th anniversary. A Grand Community Shabbaton in Chabad's new state-of-the-art building at 7347 W Sand Lake Road will bring dozens of families together for a weekend of celebration, entertainment, and great company on Oct. 23-24. Lowe will speak about his journey from being a child star on the 1983 Broadway show, 'Mame' to his current position as chief news reporter for Channel 7 in Miami, where he is known for taking Saturdays off to celebrate Shabbat with his family.

Chabad's state-of-the art building on Sand Lake Road attracts hundreds of local families and thousands of tourists each year.

Lowe will be joined by additional scholars-in-residence, costumed characters, experienced youth directors and a private chef to create a memorable weekend for adults and children alike. The weekend will conclude with an Israeli Musical Havadalah, where the Miami-based Klezmer band will entertain the crowd with an outdoor concert on Sand Lake Road.

The Shabbaton will mark 17 years of Chabad servicing the South Orlando Jewish population and the thousands of Jewish tourists who visit from around the world each year. Their activities include a highly-acclaimed Jewish day school through 5th grade, a Reggio-inspired preschool and daycare, a Sunday Hebrew school, women's programming, young professionals' events, weekly classes, holiday celebrations, and friendly Shabbat service and community Kiddush each week. The weekend also coincides with the international Shabbat Project, where dozens of communities around the world are coming together to celebrate Shabbat in unity.

The weekend events at Chabad are open to the entire Orlando Jewish population, with the option to join for any part of the celebrations or for the entire two days.
