On Tuesday, Oct. 20, the students, teachers and families of the Jewish Academy of Orlando came together for "Family Innovation Night & Community Open House." This evening of fun and learning was an opportunity for the school to showcase its new "Innovation Lab."

The Innovation Lab at the Jewish Academy of Orlando is a place for students to create and dream. The Innovation Lab is the Jewish Academy's "Maker Space," a 21st century "Shop Class" which provides the students a place to "do it yourself." The Innovation Lab offers our students experiences in problem-solving, coding and electronics, robotics, graphic and fashion design, video and music editing and building.

In addition to the Innovation Lab, the students and their parents visited classrooms in which they participated in various experiments and problem solving challenges. "Family Innovation Night" was open to the community and demonstrated our "STEAM" focused curriculum (an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) and is part of the school's educational emphasis on science, technology and self-led learning.

The students and their parents enjoyed Innovation Night and the ability to participate together in hands-on learning experiences. It was truly a great night at the Jewish Academy of Orlando!
