For those who may not be able to attend the Sunday evening event sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council, on Tuesday, July 12, the City of Winter Park will host #OrlandoUnited, A Winter Park Tribute on the one-month anniversary, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in Central Park, located in downtown Winter Park.
July 12 marks the one-month date (Gregorian calendar) since the tragedy at Pulse nightclub.
#OrlandoUnited, A Winter Park Tribute will feature:
• Live entertainment by Orlando Big Band, who have graciously donated their time and talent for this tribute.
• Remarks by Winter Park Mayor Steve Leary; Florida State Senator Geraldine F. Thompson, District 12; Florida House Representative Mike Miller, District 47; Winter Park Police Chief Brett Railey and other local dignitaries.
• The lighting of 49 Globes of Light above the Emily Fountain in honor of the 49 lives lost.
Still a need for blood
The response for blood donations has been overwhelmingly great, however, there is still an ongoing need for more. To assist in this drive, the OneBlood bus will be in downtown Winter Park on Morse Boulevard from 2 to 7 p.m. Walk-ins are welcomed, however, appointments are encouraged. Donors will receive free admission passes to The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
OneOrlando Fund
Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen® will be accepting donations to the OneOrlando Fund that was created by the City of Orlando, and is administered by the Central Florida Foundation to directly support the victims of the Pulse tragedy.
Better Together Fund
In addition, members of the Park Avenue Merchants Association will host a Shop & Share event to benefit the Better Together Fund at the Central Florida Foundation. This fund will support the nonprofits that are supporting survivors and families, the LGBTQ, Hispanic and other affected communities, and future needs in the form of grants.
