Obituary-IRVING TEITELBAUM

 


Irving Teitelbaum, PhD., age 93, of Casselberry, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Yechiel and Sadie Reinhart Teitelbaum.

Irving earned his master’s degree in psychology from Brooklyn College and was a psychologist for the New York City School System. He later had his smicha as a rabbi from a yeshiva in Brooklyn. He received his doctorate in biblical archeology from Dropsie College in Philadelphia.

Irving loved languages and was a biblical scholar.  He also loved music and played many instruments. He loved Israel and supported the country in many ways. He also supported his wife, Sandra, in all her political endeavors.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sandra Solomon, vice mayor of the City of Casselberry; his son, Ozer Teitelbaum of New York City; and his daughter, Shifra Teitelbaum of Culver City, Calif. He is also survived by his stepsons, Kenneth (Ellen) Solomon of Longwood, Dr. Eric Solomon (Sharon Fleitman) of Atlanta and Mark (Michelle) Solomon of Gainesville; and six grandchildren.


A graveside service was held at Beth Israel Memorial Park, Gotha, with Rabbi Sholom Dubov of Congregation Ahavas Yisrael officiating. The family requests contributions in memory of Irving Teitelbaum, PhD., to Congregation Ahavas Yisrael, 708 Lake Howell Road, Maitland or Congregation Ohev Shalom, 613 Concourse Parkway South, Maitland. Arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 640 Lee Road, Orlando 32810.
