Polish Death Camps?...

I read this in the current issue of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) digest and pass it along to you:

"Poland is planning to adopt new regulations to punish people who use the phrase 'Polish Death Camps' when referring to wartime Nazi concentration camps on Polish soil during World War II.

The Nazis operated their most infamous death camps, such as Auschwitz-Birkenau, Sobibor and Treblinka, mostly in occupied Poland rather than in Germany.

Justice Minister ZBIGNIEW ZIOBRO declared during a radio interview that this bill would 'meet the expectations of Poles, who are accused around the world, in Europe, even in Germany, that they are the perpetrators of the Holocaust; that in Poland there are 'Polish concentration camp', Polish gas chambers.' The use of the term 'Polish concentration camp' by international media outlets has sparked numerous complaints from Poland in recent years, prompting some news agencies to change their style guidelines.

In 2007, the World Heritage Committee attempted to clarify the matter by listing Auschwitz as a 'German Nazi concentration and extermination camp.'

In addition, the Auschwitz Museum has released an app with the aim to educate against phrases that would imply Polish responsibility for the Holocaust. The word processor plug-in seeks out phrases regarding the Holocaust, underlines the incorrect phrase in red and offers suggestions to replace it."

A musical talented mensch...

I recently received this email from the Jewish Pavilion and pass it along to you: "What would a Jewish Pavilion holiday celebration be like without PENNY GOLDSTEIN D'AGOSTINO?

Penny has entertained our seniors for the past seven years at Chanukah, Purim, and other holiday celebrations all over town. She led a seniors choir at Horizon Bay for many years and continues to sing at their facility for JP Monthly.

She also performs monthly at Life Care Center on behalf of the Jewish Pavilion.

Penny has a superb voice and her range is incredible. The Jewish seniors are especially touched by songs from their childhood such as 'Be Mir Bist Du Schoen' and 'My Yiddisha Mama.' They wait to hear songs from their favorite musicals such as 'Fiddler on the Roof' and 'Yentl'.

You can always count on Penny for incredible entertainment.

Penny has served as a cantorial soloist so her knowledge of prayers and liturgy is immense. When she leads Shabbat services, the residents are often brought to tears when remembering their favorite melodies from days gone by.

I recently underwent cataract eye surgery performed by wonderful doctor ANDREW AZIZ, M.D., F.A.C.S., with Affiliated Eye Specialists, P.A. His offices are located in Maitland.

Dr. Aziz's office manager is BONNIE HAMILTON, who, besides her office duties, goes out of her way 100 percent to help patients in any way she can.

Bonnie heard my plea for help filling out paperwork and sat with me in the office, helping me all the way. I can't thank her enough... but I will try. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you...

A laugh (or groan) for the road...

Question: Why can't you trust stairs?

Answer: Because they are always up to something!

A horse walked into a bar.

The bartender asked him "Why the long face?"
