Obituary - USHER LAWRENCE "LARRY" BROWN

Usher Lawrence “Larry” Brown, 62, of Orlando Florida, passed away on Sept. 3, 2016 at Winter Park Hospital. He was the beloved father of Shira, Daniel and Rachel Brown; adored brother of Debbie Brown Rasiel, Mark Brown and Michael Brown; cherished grandfather to Wilder Bliss; and treasured friend to so many,

Larry was born in Savannah, Georgia, to Howard and Barbara Brown on Nov. 12, 1953. He loved life and lived it with gusto. An avid surfer in his youth, he traveled the world to find the perfect wave. Later in life he became an expert skier and mastered some of the toughest slopes in Utah. Larry was a talented musician and, as a young man, led a band call the Buckeye Sawmill Garage, that played at the old Orlando Sports Stadium, opening for such major acts as Jimmy Buffett and the Marshall Tucker Band.

Larry was a brilliant attorney with a mind like a sponge for statutes and case law, which he would often recite. He inspired his associates to challenge themselves and was always quick with encouragement and recognition. He was a caring boss and friend, and was generous with his time and knowledge. Larry was a shareholder with Greenspoon Marder and was board certified in civil trial law and education law. He had been the attorney for the school board of Osceola County since 1992 and took pride in that representation. Larry also represented numerous cities, community development districts and other governmental entities. He was a litigator of the highest distinction, with vast experience representing clients in complex business cases, and received numerous recognitions. He was also active with the Florida Bar, and served on several committees.

Funeral Services were under the Jacob “Yank” Frank Pavilion at Temple Israel Cemetery, with Rabbi Joshua Neely officiating.

The family requests that donations in memory of Larry Brown be made to I Care I Cure Childhood Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 291386, Davie, FL, 33329, info@icareicure.org or 800-807-8013.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 640 Lee Road, Orlando FL 32810.

I remember Larry from U. of F. law school as a heckuva nice guy and actually have a copy of a 45 done by his band. Rest in peace.
