Obituary - HANS BEN ZEEV STOCKNOPF

 


Hans Ben Zeev Stocknopf, (Hanan Ben Zeev), age 87, of Oakmont at Lake Mary, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2016, at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs. He was born in Vienna, Austria, on April 27, 1929, to the late Zeev and Claire Warter Stocknopf.

A survivor of the Shoah, Hans made his way from Vienna to France and, after 1948, to Israel. While living in France, he graduated from hotel management school in Paris. In Israel, as a member of Israeli Army, he met and married his wife of more than 61 years, the former Ruth Arditi, who survives him.

Hans and Ruth and their family moved first to West Africa and later to the area around Geneva, Switzerland, before ultimately relocating to the Orlando area in 1982. For many years Hans was a successful real estate builder and developer in Central Florida.

In addition to his wife, Hans is survived by his son, Ron (Erika) of Winter Park; and his daughter, Anat (Udi) Avitzur of Toronto; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Ernst Stock.

Funeral services were held at the Pavilion at Ohev Shalom Cemetery with Rabbi Arnold Siegel officiating. In memory of Hans Ben Zeev Stocknopf, the family requests contributions to The American Cancer Society.
