Orlando Hadassah celebrates Chanukah

Joe Goldovitz

The Orlando Chapter of Hadassah presents its annual Chanukah program on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 11:30 a.m. at Congregation Ohev Shalom. A special Chanukah lunch will be catered-with latkes of course-served up with a helping of festive music.

Performing is the musical duo of Joe and Lynn Goldovitz, who will entertain with a unique combination of Chanukah and pop music.

Joe and Lynn Goldovitz began performing music together when they met as teenagers. Their distinctive vocal blend is energetic and yet has the feel and sound of the very familiar.

Their love of music is apparent in the joy of their presentation whether it be Jewish music or a mingling of other musical genre such as jazz and popular sounds. Sensing a renewed interest in Klezmer music, Joseph and Lynn have expanded their knowledge and repertoire to include numerous traditional Klezmer pieces.

Some of the highlights of their career include performing three consecutive years at the International Klezmer Festival in Tzfat (Safed), Israel and for the Jewish Renaissance Foundation at the Governor's Mansion in Princeton, New Jersey.

In addition to continuing as performers, they served as cantorial soloists for Temple Beth El, Fort Myers, Florida for almost four years. They are currently serving as spiritual leaders and cantorial soloists for Congregation Sinai in Clermont/Minneola, Florida. They have also been members of the Guild of Temple Musicians.

The Goldovitz currently reside in DeBary, Florida, and perform locally as well as throughout the U.S.

The Tuesday, Dec. 6, celebration is the perfect opportunity to do some Chanukah gift shopping. Vendor "Fun with Mah Jongg" will offer a full line of mahjong merchandise for sale. Designer Handbags and accessories will also be available for purchase at special low prices.

Add a little glitz and glamour to your favorite Hadassah lady's life with one of our long or short sleeve Hadassah tee shirts. This early Chanukah celebration is guaranteed to raise your spirits and put you in a holiday mood.
