Obituary - LAWRENCE B. TRAVITSKY

 


Larry Travitsky, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at Florida Hospital—Orlando. Larry was born in Brooklyn, New York, on Aug. 7, 1937, to the late Abraham and Fannie Pakula Travitsky. He attended Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute earning an associate’s degree in drafting and served in the United States Army following the Korean War.

Larry was a manufacturer’s representative in the electrical engineering field and owned Larry Travis Associates, Inc.

On June 10, 1962, in New York, he married the former Beatrice Weinberger, his wife of nearly 55 years who survives him. In 1977, the family relocated to the Orlando area from Queens, New York, and joined Congregation of Reform Judaism (then Congregation of Liberal Judaism). Larry was the quintessential family man. He lived for his family—relishing every minute he could spend with them.

In addition to his wife, Bea of Oviedo, Larry is survived by his son, Evan of Las Vegas, Nev.; his daughters, Debra (David) House of Winter Park, Robin (John) Goebel of Lumberton, Texas, and Amy (Lance) Cassell of Sarasota. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Allison (Cody) Sanders, Jared, Alex, Austin, Alayna and Ari; and his great-grandchildren, Lilly and Landry. Additionally, his brother Arnold (Teri) of Altamonte Springs and his sister-in-law, Helene Westman of Boca Raton survive him.

A funeral service with military honors was held in the sanctuary at Congregation of Reform Judaism, with Rabbi Steven Engel and Cantor Jacqueline Rawiszer officiating. Burial followed at the CRJ Cemetery in Gotha.
