The Roth Family JCC to launch 24-hour $200K fundraiser

Corrie Mosseri and Judith Arieli, educators in the JCC's Richard S. Adler Early Childhood Learning Center lead a class in a Judaic program.  Funds from the Then, Now & Always Campaign on March 8-9 will benefit the center, including its Dick & Dottie Appelbaum Infant & Toddler Center, as well as the JCC as a whole.

The Roth Family Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando is embarking upon an ambitious fundraising goal-raise $200,000 in 24 hours. In fact, their goal is so ambitious that if they don't meet the goal, all of the money will be returned.

The fundraising campaign is being hosted online through a website called Charidy, launching at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, and concluding on Thursday at 6 p.m.

"The year has just begun, and already, our community is facing challenges greater than we expected," said Keith Dvorchik, the JCC's CEO.

He explained that the fake bomb threats that the JCC received in January have cost the institution financially.

"We have a 44-year history of excellence in fiscal management, but this year, it will take significant effort just for us to break even," Dvorchik said.

This online campaign, chaired by volunteer leader Jodi Krinker, seeks to help address some of these financial challenges.

The campaign is made possible by matching gifts from friends of the JCC, who will match donations 3:1. If the community donates $50,000 during that 24-hour period on the designated web site (charidy.com/ThenNowAndAlways), each of the matching gifts will quadruple the total to $200,000.

So, for example, a $100 gift is actually $400.

"We are proud of our long, successful history as one of Orlando's most prominent cultural centers, and we're just as confident in the brightness of our future," Dvorchik said.

"We ask that you commit to donating that day. Commit to sharing this 24-hour fundraiser on your own Facebook page. Commit to telling your friends and family to donate. I'm committed. Because this is your JCC. This is my JCC. Then, now and always."

To donate to the campaign, visit http://www.charidy.com/ThenNowAndAlways during the 24-hour window beginning Wednesday, March 8. If you'd like to donate by phone instead, please call 407-621-4030 during the campaign.
