Back to School open house at Beth Am

August 11, 2017

Congregation Beth Am invites the community to its Open House and Back to School Bagel Bash on Sunday, Aug. 20, 9:30 a.m. to noon, where families will have the opportunity to check out CBA’s religious school and meet its new education director, Cantor Nina Fine.

Enrolled students will have brunch with their class and teacher while parents can have a nosh and kibitz with other parents of children in their child’s class. Those children not yet registered will also be invited to brunch with their prospective classmates and teacher. Children and parents will later reconnect for Israeli dancing and a performance by Breakthrough Voices, a local youth singing group.

CBA’s school is convenient for families on both the east and west sides of town and is open to all students, regardless of synagogue affiliation. Curriculum is tailored to meet each child’s individual needs, including a unique program designed for children with special needs.

Students in grades Pre-K—5 meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. until noon at CBA in Longwood while those in grades 6 and 7 meet on Saturday mornings at 9 a.m., prior to the Shabbat morning service.

Students in grades 3—7 also attend one of CBA’s two mid-week sessions, each utilizing the same curriculum with locations at both CBA in Longwood, Wednesday 4:15 to 6 p.m. and Winter Springs, (Fellowship Hall on Red Bug Lake Road, between Dodd Road and Tuskawilla Road) Tuesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Students within one year of their B/Mitzvah meet for one hour after their weekday session.

In addition, CBA has what is believed to be the only special needs Sunday school class in Orlando, giving children of all abilities the opportunity to learn.

“The special needs class is great,” said Robyn Eichenholz. “My son gets to go to Sunday school just like my daughter and has learned the Hebrew alphabet and Jewish customs.”

Contact the CBA office at 407-862-3505 or shalom@congbetham.org for more information. New enrollees to the school who mention they read about CBA in the Heritage will receive up to a 10 percent discount on tuition.
