August 18, 2017

JFS Orlando was recently awarded $10,000 from the Harper Family Charitable Foundation, Inc. for its Reliable Independent Drivers for the Elderly program. The RIDE program is a transportation assistance program that provides free roundtrip rides to medical appointments or other essential services for low-income seniors and disabled adults in Orlando.

“We are so grateful for the long-standing support from the Harper Family Charitable Foundation of our RIDE program,” said JFS Orlando Executive Director Eric Geboff. “The elderly and disabled population is often a forgotten segment of our community, but with RIDE we are able to increase the access to medical care and provide a level of independence for them.”

The $10,000 grant marks the sixth consecutive year that the Harper Family Charitable Foundation has supported the RIDE program. In 2016, RIDE provided a total of 618 roundtrip rides for 108 elderly or disabled individuals. The goal of RIDE is to help vulnerable seniors and disabled adults maintain their health and independence.

The mission of the Harper Family Charitable Foundation, Inc. is for the health, education, maintenance and well-being of disabled children/adults of all ages only in the Central Florida area, wherever the need is found to be the greatest.
