Genealogical Society helps you learn genealogy software

January 25, 2019

The Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Orlando presents, “Everything You Wanted to Know About Family Tree Maker, But Were Afraid to Ask: A Discussion with Mark Olsen.”

Olsen is Family Tree Maker’s representative, and he will speak to the JGSGO and answer questions about the software, and demonstrate how it helps you save and share your family history. The meeting is Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m., at the Roth Jewish Community Center, 851 North Maitland Ave., in Maitland. The meeting is free to JGSGO members. There is a $5 fee for nonmembers, which can be applied to membership dues.

Some of Family Tree Maker’s key features include a user-friendly interface to quickly and easily build a family tree, update your tree with Ancestry.com using FamilySync, get match suggestions with FamilySearch.org automatically, view family history timelines and interactive maps, and enhance your tree with a photo repair tool. Family Tree Maker also includes a locations database with more than three million place names for consistent data entry, access to online street and satellite maps, a digital version of the Companion Guide and a convenient onscreen Help system. The technology can be overwhelming, but genealogy software is essential for anyone doing family history. This meeting allows you to learn directly from the software company, and help you efficiently and effectively use the program and its many amazing features.

Family Tree Maker is offering a special price on the software at this meeting.
