Jewish Academy kindergartners sing Purim songs at Savannah Court.

Jewish Academy of Orlando celebrated Purim with a megillah reading, celebration, performances, delivery of mishloach manot (Purim baskets), and grogger sculpture creations.

Third and fourth-grade students performed in the annual Purim play that tells the holiday's story through music and dance.

At the Purim celebrations, the students participated in games and songs and even read from an emoji megillah.

Kindergarten students, dressed in costumes, visited residents at Savannah Court. They sang Purim songs, brought mishloach manot and hand-made groggers.

Fifth grade students created groggers using plaster craft material, paint, and fabric. Their groggers are modeled after a character from the Purim story. This is part of the school's art curriculum integrating Judaism and art, using 3D materials to create sculpture.

The parent teacher organization was also involved by preparing and delivering mishloach manot to the community.

"The Purim story teaches our students many Jewish values and life skills including leadership, giving, making good choices, and standing up for what is right. By integrating the story into art, music, and performing arts, these skills truly come to life. We are delighted that our students are able to participate in a program that synthesizes academic lessons, Jewish values, art, music, and performance to our entire student body," stated Alan Rusonik, head of school.
