Shana Tova! Annually, the Jewish New Year gives us the opportunity to reflect on the lives we have changed and the impact that we have in our community. Through Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando, our wonderful community has reached thousands of individuals and families in need over the last year. Whether it's through volunteering in the Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry, or by donating canned goods, or funding a client to participate in the Family Stabilization Program - you are changing the lives of others for the better while leaving a lasting impact on your own. Thank you.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented times for all of us, but when households are in crisis, that is when JFS needs to be at its strongest. We continue to make sure people who are hungry get food, seniors who need to get to their medical appointments have rides, folks who want spiritual guidance can speak with our Community Rabbi, and families on the brink of homelessness have access to a case worker and vital resources.

During these times, our mental health counselors have seen up to three times their usual number of clients. Our Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry has at times served two times the normal number of households it serves a day.

But while the demand for our services has greatly increased, another thing that has changed is the way we are seeking support to be able to continue helping the Orlando community. Out of concern for everyone's safety, we have postponed all in-person fundraising events for the remainder of the year. Our annual High Holiday food drive has switched to a virtual High Holiday HOPE Drive: http://www.JFSorlando.org/HHhopedrive. A first-ever for JFS, this virtual drive will support ALL of our COVID-19 relief programs. We look forward to continue serving all who seek help in the upcoming year.

On behalf of the JFS Orlando Board of Directors, staff, and clients, may you and your families be inscribed for a healthy, joyous and fulfilling 5781.

Phillip Flynn

JFS Orlando Executive Director
