When caregiving is overwhelming, call the Orlando Senior Help Desk

The future needs of healthy and independent seniors are not on the radar of their family members until a crisis arises. An unexpected fall is often the beginning of a family member’s transition into caregiving. All of a sudden, the new caregiver has to learn so many things about their loved one: what insurance they have, who are their medical professionals, what are the rehabilitation options, are their finances in order, is their living environment still a safe and viable choice, and so much more.

In 2012 the Orlando Senior Help Desk was formed as an additional senior resource offered by the Jewish Pavilion. This information and referral service is offered at no cost to the community. When a caller or caregiver reaches out to The Jewish Pavilion’s senior resource specialist at the Orlando Senior Help Desk, their family member is often in crisis. Other times the caller just needs a listening ear, or a list of senior resources.

Fortunately, the senior specialist is equipped to handle all types of questions and concerns relating to aging and elder services. The Help Desk’s senior resource specialist has helped thousands of callers navigate their way through the daunting senior maze, alleviating caregiver stress while giving advice on senior services, senior living options, home health services, elder law, hospice, adult day care and more.

Have a question pertaining to older adults? Let the Orlando Senior Help Desk help you and the special senior in your life. Call 407-678-9363 or visit http://www.orlandoseniorhelpdesk.org.
