Gene Wilder

No surprise ...

One of my favorite actors who has since passed, Jerome Silberman, was Jewish. You may know him as Gene Wilder. He also was once married to Gilda Radner, another Jew and another of my favorites, who made me adore the television show "Saturday Night Live." She passed away many years ago and much too young!

And someone I consider absolute genius, Dr. Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis, a clinical method for treating psychopathology through dialogue between a patient and a psychoanalyst. Freud was born to Galician Jewish parents. SURPRISE! Another Jew!

(My middle son, Steven and his wife, Jessica are psychologists. I consider them genius as well ... but then, I'm a Jewish mother!)

I received a note ...

It was from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and I pass it along to you:

"Over the years, you've probably stood with Israel in a number of ways.

You may have visited Israel (I did.) You may have climbed Masada (I did.) You may have swam in the Dead Sea (I did.) And you may have left a note in the Western (Wailing) Wall. (I did that too.) You've prayed for the safety of Israelis as they endured countless terrorist attacks, rockets, bus and café bombings. (Yes, I did.) And while you may never plan to live in Israel yourself, you can't imagine a day in which that option was not available.

If you feel Israel's existence is vital. If you want to help ensure the Jewish state is secured for generations to come ... why not join AIPAC? For more details, phone them at 202-639-5200."

And a letter from FLAME ...

"The greatest threats to Israel still remain. They're just as treacherous this year as last." I will list them for you:

1. Boycott, Divestment and Sanction movement: Dangerous as ever.

2. Calls for an end to the Jewish state: Still running in mainstream media.

3. Promises from Iran and Turkey to destroy Israel: A steady toxic drumbeat.

4. Attacks on Israel by Hamas and the Palestinian Authority: Brutal as ever.

5. Anti-Semites in Congress: Oy vay! This is scariest of all!

One for the road ...

A 105-year-old lady's advice to us all:

"For better digestion, I drink beer. In case of appetite loss, I drink white wine. In case of low blood pressure, I drink red wine. In case of high blood pressure, I drink scotch. When I have a cold, I drink schnapps.

When do I drink water, you ask? I've never been that sick!"

(Follow her advise at your own risk!!!!)
