"Make new friends and keep the old. One is silver and the other gold." Not only is that a quote very similar to us but can be very relatable as well.

The Jewish Pavilion has solidified so many silver- and gold-type relationships. Volunteers spend many hours with seniors, many who are considered true friends. Whether it be at a Shabbat, a holiday, a one-on-one room visit, or even playing a few games of mahjong, the time spent is invaluable to all. Spending time at the communities also forges friendships with staff members.

The close friendship between volunteer Pat Rubenstein and activity director Rich Besser dates back to over 16 years ago.

"I met Rich many years ago. I had just started volunteering and he had just started at Savannah Court. The one thing that has always stood out about Rich is how much the residents like and appreciate him. He is also well known for his singing. It has been a pleasure working with him and calling him "friend,"' commented Rubenstein.

Besser has always been a huge supporter of the Jewish Pavilion. He has been an activity director at several communities throughout the last few years and consistently welcomes the partnership of The Jewish Pavilion. Besser recently began working at Gentry Park, and thanks to him they are one of The Jewish Pavilion's newest sponsors. The community is grateful for Besser and the Jewish Pavilion looks forward to celebrating many holidays in the future with Besser and all of their new friends at Gentry Park.
