Did someone say "fore"? It looks like the Jewish Pavilion and the Orlando Senior Help Desk are back at it again. The PGS Annual Golf Tournament to raise money and awareness for the Orlando Senior Help Desk went off with a shotgun blast this past weekend at Rosen Shingle Creek Golf Course. With a great turnout of 23 teams, the tournament was full of smiling faces, laughs, great conversations, and networking for a great cause.

Following on the heels of the Jewish Pavilion's very successful fashion show, the tournament opened on May 2 with a bright and early 7:30 a.m. registration time. And while things were being done slightly different because of Covid-19 precautions, the golfers still had a wonderful breakfast to start the day, and the opportunity to improve their game with the purchase of Eagle Packets.

With a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., a nice cool breeze ushered the golfers to their starting positions for what was the start of an absolutely beautiful day. Some of them had the opportunity to play with the Pros: We had retired NFL, MLB, and NBA pro players joining us. Once they got to 5th hole with a par 3, they were able to double their money - an opportunity of a life time - and if they could get their ball on the green with their first hit then they were in the money. However, the wind favored the Jewish Pavilion, and helped us raise even more money for our seniors.

The sun shined brightly as they played throughout the morning and stayed the rest of the day. The lunch provided by Rosen Shingle Creek was a wonderful way to refuel everyone's body and soul. The banter and laughter that started on the course continued throughout the meal. To be out and about again created such a happy atmosphere that led to conversations about previous games, comparing courses, and play dates being scheduled.

You could end it right there and it would have been a successful event, but there still were auction items and a raffle. The auction items helped us raise even more for our seniors, and even brought out some more competitiveness among our players. You can't leave that kind of spirit on the golf course.

A special shout out has to go 1-800-Charity Cars for being our major sponsor for the event. This sponsorship allowed the Jewish Pavilion to have one of the most successful tournaments ever.
