Cantor Jeffrey Weber

In keeping with its long history of cantorial excellence, Congregation Ohev Shalom is excited to announce that Cantor Jeffrey Weber has joined the synagogue as the new cantor. Cantor Weber joins Rabbi Geoffrey Spector in guiding the congregants in prayer and moving the congregation forward. Cantor Weber takes the reins from Cantor Allan Robuck who has retired and is now Cantor Emeritus.

With his extensive cantorial, musical and performance background, Cantor Weber is uniquely positioned to continue COS's tradition of infusing services and programs with music that is spiritual and inspiring and the congregation is excited for him to bring his extensive Jewish musical talent to the Bimah.

Cantor Weber graduated from the H. L. Miller Cantorial School at the Jewish Theological Seminary. Since receiving his degree as a Hazzan, Cantor Weber has performed in a variety of concerts internationally, including appearing as a soloist with the Cantors Assembly at the Berlin Concert Hall. He has performed in Poland, Germany, Israel, Canada, and the United States (including at the Kennedy Center), and can be seen in the documentary film "100 Voices: A Journey Home" documenting the Cantors Assembly Mission to Poland. Cantor Weber performed as part of the Jewish Festival in Kraków, and has participated in Yom HaShoah programs at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C.

In addition to being a talented pianist and guitarist, Cantor Weber is a seasoned opera singer. He began his vocal studies with famed Metropolitan Opera star Eleanor Steber at the age of 14 and received his music degree from the Juilliard School of Music. Cantor Weber performed for many years with both the New York City Opera and Metropolitan Opera, and for several seasons at the Tanglewood Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Lake George Opera and Sarasota Opera as well as several other companies nationally.

Cantor Weber is married to Andrea, also an opera singer, and is the proud father of two sons.
