Craig Polejes, Chair of the Shalom Orlando Board of Directors, announced that the Board of Directors of Shalom Orlando has appointed Melissa Youngblood and Rachel Greenspan as the interim co-executive directors.

Melissa Youngblood has been an invaluable member of the Shalom Orlando team for the past six years, serving with distinction as the chief education officer of the Richard S. Adler Early Childhood Learning Center. In her role, Youngblood has exhibited exceptional leadership, driving forward transformative initiatives and ensuring that educational practices remain at the forefront of excellence. With her master’s in Special Education from Vanderbilt University, Youngblood brings a wealth of expertise to her new responsibilities, which will now include oversight of ECLC, Shayna’s Village, Heller Grove and Children & Family programming.

Rachel Greenspan has over 18 years of experience from the Harry & Rose Samson Family JCC of Milwaukee, WI, where she held various leadership positions. Greenspan’s deep understanding of family engagement, community relations, and organizational development will be instrumental as we seek to deepen our connections within the community. Her degree in Art Education and Psychology from Cardinal Stritch University further enhances her ability to contribute meaningfully to our collective efforts. Greenspan will now oversee community programs, cultural arts, community engagement, including membership and collaboration, drawing from her extensive expertise and strengths.

The women’s combined experience, passion, and commitment to our community make them the ideal candidates to lead Shalom Orlando during this transformative period. Together, they will work tirelessly to foster deeper connections, drive innovation, and uphold our shared Jewish values.

During this interim period, Shalom Orlando’s search committee will be working closely with staff and community members at large conducting conversations and interviews, while they continue to do their due diligence in selecting a permanent team.
