An insider's look at Jewish celebrities

Arnold N. Bremen

The Sunday Connection at Congregation Beth Am presents “Laughter in the Wings—Great Jewish Celebrities,” starring Arnold N. Bremen, an author, retired impresario and arts administrator.

Bremen will be speaking at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, May 5 at the synagogue in Longwood.

After nearly half a century directing four major American Performing Arts Centers, including Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater and The Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, and presenting more than 2,000 artists and attractions, Breman has seen it all.

In his book “Laughter in the Wings,” Breman recalls backstage encounters with the biggest names in the entertainment business including some of the most beloved Jewish performers of our time. The stories in the presentation feature: Beverly Sills, Itzhak Perlman, Benny Goodman, Sammy Davis Jr., Cary Grant, Victor Borge, Marcel Marceau, Isaac Stern, Joel Grey, Sid Ceaser, Milton Berle, Henny Youngman, Harry James, Alan King, Jackie Mason, Joan Rivers and many of others. This is the story of crowd pleasers who left audiences dazzled and managers frantic, told with humor and candor of a presenter who kept laughing all the way through it. His presentation is animated, funny and entertaining and includes photos and videos of the performers.

The show is free and open to the community. Coffee and a nosh will be provided. For more information: 407-862-3505.
