Pavilion Golf Society outing to help fund Senior Help Desk

Dual residency in London and Heathrow led to the formation of the Pavilion Golf Society here in Orlando. Lloyd Green, an active member of the Jewish community in London, shares a passion for the elderly with Ken Davis, another new member of the local Jewish community.

Both men are active in the Congregation Ohev Shalom Men’s Club. Together, along with several members of the COS Brotherhood, they decided to plan a golf tournament with proceeds going to the Jewish Pavilion. The tournament will follow in the footsteps of a successful golf tournament in London that raises hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for seniors in long-term care.

The PGS (Pavilion Golf Society) event will be Sunday, June 2 at Alaqua Country Club. Breakfast from Bagel King will be served beginning at 7:30 a.m. The shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m. Participation in the tournament is $100 per person and includes breakfast, lunch and lots of prizes. Davis said he is proud to announce some of the main sponsors for this year’s event, including Florida Hospital, Fifth Third Bank, Morgan and Morgan, and Vitas Innovative Hospice.

All proceeds of the event will go toward the funding of the Orlando Senior Help Desk; a new service of the Jewish Pavilion. The website http://www.orlandoseniorhelpdesk.org contains a wealth of information pertinent to seniors and their family members with regards to everything from housing to medical and financial needs. More importantly, a trained social worker offers advice and hand holding through various crises. Currently, the social worker is on staff two days a week. Hopefully, Barbara Bonaparte will soon be available every day of the week due to funds secured by the tournament.

Hole sponsorships are $1,000 and include a page in the ad book, signage and the opportunity to put up a welcome tent. Ads are available beginning at $250. For more information visit http://www.jewishpavilion.org or contact Ken Davis at 727-798-5354 or at khdavis13@yahoo.com.
