Aaron Gorovitz receives Cornerstone award

Aaron J. Gorovitz

ORLANDO-Attorney Aaron J. Gorovitz and partner with Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A. was honored with the 2013 Personal Empowerment Cornerstone Award at the Central Florida Urban League's Annual Cornerstone Awards and Gala at Walt Disney World's Contemporary Resort held on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Cornerstone Gala celebrated individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the community within the four areas of empowerment that are the cornerstones of the Urban League: personal empowerment, youth empowerment, economic empowerment, and health empowerment. Orlando businessman/hotelier and philanthropist Harris Rosen also was honored at the event with the Youth Empowerment Award.

For more than 25 years, Gorovitz's legal practice has centered around large and complex commercial, residential and mixed-use real estate projects throughout Central Florida. He is often involved in site selection and due diligence and is lead counsel in the procurement of Developments of Regional Impact (DRIs), comprehensive plan designations, zonings and other governmental approvals and entitlements. He also formulates public/private partnerships on master plans, and takes a lead role in the development, financing and leasing of projects. He also serves on the International Board of Directors for Meritas, a global alliance of 7,124 experienced lawyers in 175 full-service law firms serving 236 markets-all rigorously qualified, independent and collaborative.

In addition to his busy law practice, Gorovitz is deeply involved in his community. As the chairman of the Central Florida Partnership (CFP), he traveled to Washington, D.C., with other CFP regional leaders earlier this year to help advance Central Florida's growing industries: hospitality, travel & tourism, research funding and entrepreneurship. He has also spent many hours working side-by-side with community leaders to bring SunRail, a $1.3 billion planned commuter rail system to Central Florida. He serves on the board of directors for the Community Foundation of Central Florida and on the executive committee of the Jewish National Fund. Recently, Gorovitz was listed as one of the "Orange County Leaders in Central Florida" by Florida Trend magazine, the "Most Influential Businessmen in Central Florida" by the Orlando Business Journal and was presented with the "Father of the Year" award by the American Diabetes Association.
