Obituary - MARTIN HERMAN

 


Martin Herman of Novi, Michigan, died Sept. 21, 2014. He was 88 years old. Mr. Herman was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and lived there all of his life. He owned Martin Herman Advertising and was a talented artist and photographer, having earned a degree at Menninger’s Art School.

Mr. Herman was an avid golfer and taught golf for many years after his retirement. He was loved and respected by his students.

Mr. Herman was a founding member of Congregation Beth Shalom in Oak Park, Michigan and past president of its Men’s Club. He served in World War II where he earned a bronze medal.

Mr. Herman was the beloved husband of the late Judith Herman for 61 years. He was the identical twin brother of the late Leonard (Sondra) Herman and the late Theresa Bookman. He was the brother-in-law of the late Jean Davidson. He was the devoted son of the late Henry and the late Leah Herman.

Mr. Herman is survived by his loving daughters, Marsha and Dr. Daniel Seff of Longwood, Beth and Eli Maroko and Barbara and Dr. Alex Green of West Bloomfield, Michigan; grandchildren, Ilana and Ari Seff, Jordan, Alex and Abby Maroko and Nicole, Austin and Taylor Green. He was the brother-in-law of Arnold and Mary Davidson and Dr. Maurice and Randy Davidson. He is also survived by many friends and relatives who will miss his wit and sense of humor.

Internment was at Clover Hill Park Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan.
