Shabbat dinner with Waldflowers BBG

Waldflowers BBG girls have fun in the photo booth at the Hollywood-themed Shabbat dinner.

On Sept.19, Waldflowers BBG (B'nai B'rith Girls) hosted the first Shabbat dinner of the fall term. Waldflowers BBG is the BBYO girls-only Orlando chapter, open to all Jewish teens in 9th through 12th grade. This Hollywood-themed Shabbat dinner was hosted at Arielle Cohen's house and had the largest turnout so far this term.

The current teen leadership board of Waldflowers BBG is Sarah Michel (senior, Winter Park High School), Sara Freedman (sophomore, Lake Mary High School), Taylor Harris (junior, Virtual School), Linsi Greenberg (senior, Lake Highland High School), Arielle Cohen (sophomore, Edgewater High School), and Rebecca Michel (sophomore, Winter Park High School).

The teens set up many decorations throughout the house including a large picture frame photo booth, red carpet entranceway, and "Waldiewood" mural. The guests were welcomed at the door with paparazzi to take their photos as they walked on the red carpet. Later that night, the girls did Shabbat candle lighting with the Cohen family and enjoyed a family-style potluck dinner. Following dinner, each girl was assigned a sparkly star and glitter pens to decorate with their names and designs, and talk about the history of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

BBYO chapters in Orlando are hosting "Sukkot Under the Stars" on Oct. 11. There will be icebreakers, gender separates programming, dinner and then a celebration in the sukkah.
