The Rosen JCC will begin an expansion that will transform their current facility and programs with a groundbreaking ceremony on June 24 at 6:30 p.m. The expansion is two-fold: a 17,348 sq. ft. addition featuring a new theater/auditorium and enhanced youth wing, and an additional 4,769 sq. ft. area to be added to their award-winning Early Childhood Learning Center. Harris Rosen will be speaking at the ceremony, and light refreshments will be served.

The auditorium will boast an elevated stage for events and productions, a green room for performers, and a catering kitchen. Outside of the new auditorium will be two private, sound-proof music rooms for voice, acting and instrument lessons. The youth wing enhancement will include a dedicated childcare room, called Kid Zone, for JCC members using the fitness facilities, and three large youth classrooms for the after-school program J University, plus two staff offices.

Hillary Brook, owner of the JCC's in-house performing arts program, Theatre South Orlando, is thrilled about this new addition. "This space gives us the ability to offer professional quality theater programs for youth and adults. It's a new venue for the Orlando community, which they can not only enjoy, but participate in productions and events!"

The Early Childhood Learning Center expansion plans call for a resource library and parenting center, three new classrooms, and dedicated space for administrative staff. The Rosen JCC's nationally accredited Early Childhood program has continued to grow with this community since its inception in 1994.  "We are thrilled to expand our vision of engaging more families in the community, as we continue to provide both an excellent education and a place for people to meet and form lasting friendships," commented Brenda Sher, the Rosen JCC's Early Childhood director.

The original youth space remaining in the original building will be retrofitted with enhancements for both teen programs and wellness. The current youth wing will be transformed to include a private personal training area, as well as physical therapy and massage studios. There will also be a dedicated spinning studio for the JCC's ever-popular spin classes. The Rosen JCC will build out a teen center with an active gaming room in an effort to promote wellness in a fun, approachable and sustainable way.

The expansion is expected to be complete by February 2016.

"We will be celebrating in 2016 with an event inviting all community members to tour the new additions and get to know the Rosen JCC," said Bonnie Rayman, JCC executive director.
