Obituary - MORTON "MORTY" NAGAN

 


Morton Nagan, age 94, of Winter Park, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at Westchester Health Care Center. A native of Rochester, New York, he was born on June 30, 1921, to the late Louis and Celia Gershon Nagan. He served in the U.S. Army in Dachau and Normandy during World War II and later graduated from City University in New York with a degree in Civil Engineering.

On Jan. 1, 1955, in Brooklyn, Mr. Nagan married the former Martha Goldstein, his wife of over 60 years, who survives him. They relocated to West Palm Beach from Queens in 2002 and then moved to the Orlando area in 2015.

As his family says, he was a “huge” Cardinals fan and a fantastic father. He was very involved with each of his children, singing to them and teaching them to ride bikes and play ball. His avocation was repairing wind instruments and he earned the respect of many with his extraordinary talent and ability to fix their instruments.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Nagan is survived by his son, Richard of Bronx, N.Y.; and daughters, Harriet (Peter) Aaronson of Connecticut, Gail Nagan of Sanford, and Yvonne Nagan of Queens, N.Y.; and his granddaughter, Nicole Aaronson of Connecticut. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Nagan and sister Alma Spector.

A funeral service was held in New York with burial following at Beth El Cemetery in Paramus New Jersey. Funeral arrangements entrusted by Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 640 Lee Road, Orlando 32810.
