Jewish Academy of Orlando gala-a true success!

Henrietta and Marc Katzen

Jewish Academy of Orlando hosted its annual gala, "A Starry Night," on Nov. 7, at the Altamonte Hilton. The gala honored the Render family for their significant support to the school and gave a lifetime achievement award to Henrietta and Marc Katzen.

"Thanks to both families, we saw one of the best-attended galas in years!" said Alan Rusonik, Head of School. "Their support and commitment to Jewish education in Orlando has allowed Jewish Academy to support critical programs, including our new Innovation Lab." The gala had over 330 attendees, an increase over last year.

The school uses the gala proceeds to fund curricula and new programs, including Mind UP, a curriculum developed by the Goldie Hawn Foundation about mindfulness, and to support the STEAM efforts (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics).

"Events like this allow Jewish Academy to distinguish itself from other public and private schools," said Rusonik. "We appreciate the community's support of the gala and the school." Community members are welcome to take tours to see the Innovation Lab, the newsroom and other parts of the school.
