Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
MindUP™, a new program and curriculum being taught at the Jewish Academy of Orlando, teaches social and emotional learning skills that link cognitive neuroscience, positive psychology and mindful awareness training utilizing a brain centric approach. The Jewish Academy of Orlando is the only school in Central Florida currently using this program, and only the second Jewish day school in the country to adopt this curriculum. The school is hosting a Parent Information Night on Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Parents will learn the fundamentals of the MindUP™ program and how parents can incorporate MindUP™ at home. The session will be led by one of the MindUP™ trainers who will be working with the Jewish Academy teachers throughout the day. There will also be a question and answer session with the MindUP™ trainer.
MindUP™ is a research-based training program for educators and children. This program is composed of 15 lessons based in neuroscience. Students learn to self-regulate behavior and mindfully engage in focused concentration required for academic success. MindUP™ lessons support improved academic performance while enhancing perspective taking, empathy and kindness as well as fostering complex problem solving skills.
The founder of MindUP™, Goldie Hawn, collaborated with neuroscientists, cognitive psychologists and educators to create this program that fosters a classroom-learning environment where a child's ability to academically succeed and personally thrive is maximized and directly linked to their overall state of well-being.
The information night is open to current parents, prospective parents, the community at-large and anyone who wishes to learn more about the amazing and transformative mindfulness curriculum!
