Johnny Carson
"Heeeeeere's Johnny"...
Just recently I watched a two-hour special on the life of television Tonight Show host for 30 years, Johnny Carson. Not only am I missing all the years of watching him and his guests I actually recognized them! (Not like the guest stars who appear on our current Tonight Show. The audience goes wild and I go who????)
Well, for those who get Antenna TV on their sets, you can still watch Johnny Carson's Tonight Show seven nights a week... 11 p.m.-midnight Monday thru Friday and again from 2 a.m.-3 a.m. and on the weekends you can see the entire 90 minutes of the Tonight Show from 10 p.m.-12:30 a.m. and again from 1:30 a.m.-3 a.m. And you will see guest stars who are either deceased or very old now looking very much alive and very young! (Best of all, like me, you will know who they are!)
Speaking of celebrities...
One that I always recognize is songwriter/musician/singer, CAROLE KING.
I recently experienced the fabulous Broadway hit "Beautiful" here at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. It is the story of her early life up until today.
As an entertainer myself, I am familiar with her wonderful songs but what I didn't know is that she is Jewish.
She is the former CAROL KLEIN. And I also didn't know that she was born in Manhattan and grew up in Brooklyn.
(Okay, I knew I loved her!!!!)
Speaking of good music...
On Sunday, May 29, we are all in for a wonderful treat!
Our own very talented musician, ALLAN VACHE will be performing at the Altamonte Chapel at their Sunday Jazz Jam. And our own very talented ALAN ROCK will emcee!
The Altamonte Chapel's Sunday 'Jazz Jam' runs from 12:30 p.m. To 2:30 p.m. The requested donation is $10.
Joining Allan will be MARK MCKEE on piano, CHARLIE SILVA on bass and BARRY SMITH on drums. These are top musicians, folks. I've had the pleasure of gigging with Mark, Charlie and Barry. I know you will be delighted with their performance.
Allan is world renown. Nuff said! Don't miss this show!!

"Have you met Miss Jones?...
Not only is that a well known song title, it is the lead in to a very special show being presented by the Congregation Ohev Shalom Seniors on Sunday, June 5, in the synagogue ballroom, 613 Concourse Parkway South in Maitland.
I know this is a little far in advance but I will give you two (count 'em 2) reminders about it.
The entertainment, starring Miss JACQUELINE JONES, starts promptly at 2 p.m. and is followed by wonderful refreshments.
Next week I will delve into some of Miss Jones numerous credits and those of her musicians.
(You don't want to miss this one. Trust me!)
The cost is only $5 for everyone so bring your friends.

"Red Nose Day was started over 30 years ago in the UK by Comic Relief, an organization that uses the power of entertainment and laughter to help fight kids poverty. All money raised goes to the Red Nose Day Fund, which helps benefit kids in the U.S. and abroad.

Red Nose Day is supported through people buying the iconic Red Nose (available exclusively at Walgreens). The whole event culminates with a two-hour, live special on NBC on May 26 at 9/8 central time, featuring some of the biggest stars of comedy, film and music. In 2015, Walgreens raised over $8.7 million for the Red Nose Day Fund and, along with NBC, over $20 million in total was raised to help fight kids poverty."
