Louis Finkelstein, age 94, of Longwood, passed away on June 26, 2016, at Brookdale at Island Court in Longwood. A native of Lodz, Poland, he was born on March 11, 1922, and was a survivor of the Shoah. After immigrating to Canada, he did what was necessary to support himself and his family including driving a cab and opening grocery stores. Eventually, he established himself as a textile manufacturer.

A widower, he met and ultimately married Rosamunde Block, herself a widow with a young son. For many years they wintered in South Florida before moving there permanently. In 2008, prior to Rosamunde’s passing, they relocated to the Orlando area to be nearer their son and his family.

Mr. Finkelstein is survived by his son, Ernest (Susan) Block; and three grandchildren, Geoffrey, Andrew and Marissa.

A graveside funeral service was held at Ohev Shalom Cemetery with Rabbi Maurice Kaprow officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 640 Lee Road, Orlando 32810.
