Seniors and students sound the shofar

Congregation Ohev Shalom student Mitchell Spector.

Seminole County seniors and students had a 'blast' at various Rosh Hashanah programs with Jewish Pavilion staff and volunteers. Rabbi Maurice Kaprow sounded the shofar recited the blessings and shared his time and kindness with a room filled with excited residents of Brookdale Island Lake. Several Jewish Pavilion volunteers led a joyous Shabbat service to welcome the Holy Days just prior to Rosh Hashanah. And just a few days later while many students had to return to the classroom several other students of Congregation Ohev Shalom met at Brookdale Island Lake and led a Rosh Hashanah service on the second day of the holiday. For the older adults living in senior living communities it is an arduous task to travel and prepare to attend High Holiday services. The students graciously brought the holiday to them along with conversation, refreshments, blessings and the sounds of the shofar.
